WMT Enclosed Waterjet Cutting Customer Case

Posted by wm

An optoelectronic glass company based in Shandong Province recently invested in a fully enclosed 1m × 1m waterjet cutting machine to upgrade its production capabilities and enhance processing quality. As the company specializes in precision glass components for optical devices, display panels, and electronic applications, it required a cutting solution that could deliver high accuracy while minimizing material loss and surface damage.

The selected fully enclosed waterjet system provides a clean, controlled, and safe cutting environment, effectively preventing water splashing, abrasive dust, and noise from affecting the workshop. This design not only improves workplace safety but also helps maintain a stable cutting atmosphere, which is particularly important for delicate glass materials.

Compared with traditional mechanical cutting or laser cutting methods, waterjet technology offers a non-thermal cutting process that avoids heat stress, micro-cracks, and edge burning on the glass surface. This allows the company to achieve smoother edges, better dimensional accuracy, and higher product consistency. As a result, post-processing steps such as polishing and rework have been significantly reduced.

In terms of material utilization, the precise cutting control of the waterjet system has helped the company optimize its cutting layouts and reduce scrap rates. By minimizing kerf loss and enabling more efficient nesting of parts, the company has achieved noticeable savings in raw material costs.
